課程概述 |
課程編號:102 23180 維多利亞時期英國文學 班級: 01 教師: 王沐嵐
This course is an introductory course for students to explore English literature in the Victorian age. Because of the enormous breadth and range of the literary work associated with the period, the course is only able to offer a limited sample of representative pieces in each genre: including a diverse range of poems, two novels, a prose essay, and a play. The first part of the course focuses on canonical poems of the period with poets such as Robert Browning and Lord Alfred Tennyson. The second half examines the lighter verses of the period as well as a prose essay, novels and plays. |
課程目標 |
The selection of texts reflects not only the literary issues, but also some of the critical cultural and social agendas of the time. It is a step towards understanding one of the most colourful, challenging, and contradictory ages in British history. |
課程要求 |
Students are strongly encouraged to read the scheduled texts prior to class as well as review the text in preparation for the two exams. No oral presentation is required but classroom discussions and feedbacks are expected. |
